Life is never certain. It’s a bumpy ride with ups and downs, and this is the inevitable truth. There will be moments when you will feel joy and happiness, only for your heart to be broken the very next instant. Life is like an ocean. Sometimes, the tides are tranquil, giving you the opportunity to swim and relax, but sometimes they are not so forgiving.

We may not always understand what God has planned for us. We may live in the present, but the mystery of the future makes us anxious.

It’s not like God is controlling our will. We are free to do whatever we desire. The longer we live as Christians, the more we understand the importance of His will being done rather than ours. When going somewhere, we have to decide whether to go left or right. If we don’t know the way, we will remain confused. The best way to proceed is “ALF.” A: Ask God. L: Listen for His answer. F: Follow His direction. Many times, we do something based on our own desire, and then we only later seek God’s guidance. Again, remember ALF, and this can simplify things.

So, what do we do?

Where do we go?

How do we make peace with this mystery?

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.”

Acts 1:7

Indeed, God is the best of planners.

You may have made all the decisions in your journey, but they led you to a destination God has decided for you. He does work in mysterious ways.

We are here in this world for a purpose. Think about it: wasn’t the fact that you were born into this world out of your control? Then why do we feel anxious about God’s plan for us in the future? The fact that you are still here, having faced numerous hardships in your life, is a testimony that He didn’t leave you, and He has promised that He will never forsake you.

God works in mysterious ways.

Sometimes, the choice we thought was bad for us turned out to be the best thing that could ever happen. Yes, there will be failures, but diamonds aren’t made without being put through immense pressure, for it is only on the darkest nights that we see the brightest stars.

Like a Father wouldn’t want anything but the best for His children, be hopeful for the story ahead. Faith matters!

And if you feel distraught, going through the motions, and feeling like you want to give up, talk to Him. Submit your reservations, and rely on Him. With time, you will see the bigger picture and see the mystery unveil itself into something more beautiful than you could ever imagine. We want to please God, right? Then, we look to His Word for guidance. “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6 ESV). Faith matters!
