“To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
-Acts 10:43
We all aim to live a good and fruitful life. That being said, oftentimes, life doesn’t give us a choice but to succumb to the adversities and the mental and physical damage that follows. It feels as though we’re in the middle of the ocean, and our boat capsizes; we are gasping for air as we struggle through the waves. As the water ebbs and flows, we fight for our lives with thoughts of positivity. We think about our friends and family, using their faces as motivation to move further in life. But this motivation can only take us so far. We look at the rising tide and think, “This is it.”
The good news is it’s not too late.
We all want to be saved, but the harsh reality is that we ask for help in the wrong places. When times get difficult, we might turn to a friend or family for comfort. Others may take a darker route and seek refuge in drugs and alcohol. These propositions may provide temporary relief, sure. But if you truly wish to be save and want salvation, there is only one name you should turn to…
And that is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jesus says in John 14:6:
“I am the way and the truth and the lie. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
With this verse, Jesus establishes His authority as the gateway toward the peace you seek. If we wish to find sanctuary in Our Father’s embrace, we must accept Jesus as Our Savior. No matter how rough the waves may get or how loud the storms may roar, Christ has the power to calm them with just a gesture.
He does so in Mark 4:35-41. Jesus rebukes the waves, telling them to be quiet and still, and so they do. In the same chapter, He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” (Mark 4:40 ESV).
This is the true test.
Faith is believing in Jesus, no matter how daunting the predicament may get. He asks us to submit to Him fully, casting all our worries on Him. He lets us know that we are not alone.
“The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
